Canada Learning Code and BrainStation promote ongoing subsidized tech skills bootcamp at a community forum in Toronto, ON

For Immediate Release

TORONTO, ON  – Canada Learning Code and BrainStation are showcasing their career-changing upskilling program in Toronto. Today, local leaders and community members gathered at BrainStation’s Toronto headquarters to highlight Code to Career in the region, a national training initiative that provides access to subsidized BrainStation software engineering bootcamps with a focus on supporting people from marginalized communities who continue to be underrepresented in tech.

The event brought together a vibrant mix of community leaders and both emerging and established tech professionals, highlighting the critical role of diversity in driving tech innovation in Toronto. Attendees explored how the newly launched program aims to strengthen the local tech ecosystem.

“Toronto is home to world-class talent across sectors like digital media, fintech, healthtech, AI, eCommerce and more,” said Pati Pazos, Director of Marketing and Communications at Canada Learning Code. “As the city’s tech sector continues to expand its global influence, it’s essential to foster a skilled and inclusive workforce. Code to Career is designed to give underrepresented communities a platform to advance their tech careers while contributing to Toronto’s economic growth.”

The event included a panel discussion examining the program as well as the role, impact, and opportunity that tech growth has in Toronto, with a focus on job readiness and diversity. The panel included Jessy Zita, Vice President of Data & Services at Mastercard Canada, Istiana Bestari, Co-Founder of Monday Girl, and Jennifer McCuaig, Vice President of Education Experience at BrainStation.

About Code To Career

The Code to Career initiative is grounded in the understanding that a more just and equitable future for technology in Canada means building programming that supports, empowers, and equips all learners who historically have been—and continue to be—underrepresented in tech.

Students who graduate from the program will be prepared for, and supported on their career journey as they seek entry-level Software Engineering roles which may include, Front-end Developer, Back-end Developer, Full-stack Developer, and Software Engineer.

The program is powered by Canada Learning Code and BrainStation, and funded by Upskill Canada [powered by Palette Skills] and the Government of Canada. Code to Career aims to train 800 people in Canada through Software Engineering Bootcamps.
