Incorporating our 2019 Themes

This year, we’ve launched Code 4 Change – an initiative to encourage Canadians to reflect on and learn about global issues. We have chosen 12 themes (one for each month) – that are meant to provide our learners with inspiration for the projects they create in the workshop you will be instructing!

Preparation is your friend!
Please review the lesson content you are will be teaching. You can confirm the lesson content you’ll be teaching with your local Chapter Lead.

Using an officially theme-inspired lesson content?
Great! You’ll notice that one of the opening slides mentions the current month’s theme! These are designed with the theme in mind and will guide learners through exploring a topic within the theme.

Not using an officially theme-inspired lesson content?
No worries. We’d still like for you to encourage learners to explore the theme! Here’s a script you can use at the start of the workshop:

“This month’s theme at Canada Learning Code is ____________________. Let’s build today’s project around this! For example, how might we……..

For some “How might we….” ideas, go to the Canada Learning Code website and click on this month’s theme in the #clcCode4Change page.

If you have questions about content please don’t hesitate to reach out to content@canadalearningcode.ca or your local Chapter Lead and they’ll put you in touch with the right person!

Have fun!

P.S. Let’s encourage learners to share links, photos, videos of their theme-inspired project on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #clcCode4Change. We want to see what our learners end up creating with you!
